Il regista è sul set dell’horror Drag Me To Hell, ma a breve dirigerà anche un nuovo progetto, dal titolo The Given Day, tratto dal romanzo di prossima pubblicazione di Dennis Lehane, autore parecchio caro ad Hollywood (dai suoi libri sono stati tratti infatti Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone e Shutter Island).
The Given Day avrà al centro le vicende dei reduci della Prima Guerra Mondiale che, tornando in patria, diffusero in America il virus della spagnola. La sottotrama riguarderà invece la vicende dello sciopero di un copro di polizia di una cittadina.
